With the Easter Bunny on its way, it is the ideal moment to bring a breath of fresh air into your home. Wicker baskets, colourful plants and cheerful accessories to hand? Let’s get to work!
Below you can read tips from our Property Manager Julie Hemmeryckx to brighten up your home for Easter and spring, and find the recipe for some refreshing lemonade afterwards.
Everything starts with tidying up your home. After all, a tidy home creates peace of mind.
"Big baskets are my favourite storage items," says Julie. "You can put all sorts of things in them, such as your children's or pets' toys, blankets, knitting needles and wool... And they come in different colours, materials and models. Bits and bobs can be tidied away easily and in no time at all."
"Giving everything a fixed place also helps, of course," adds our Property Manager. That will combat clutter and help make tidying up quicker. So you don't have to spend so much time thinking about what you put where.
Spring colours and scents all around
Colours and scents have an effect on your emotions. The trend colours yellow and apple green are ideal for use in your interior. Yellow stands for optimism and happiness, while green brings calm and tranquillity. Fresh and fruity fragrances such as lemongrass and bergamot are a perfect match.
"Of course, you don't have to repaint or spray your entire house," Julie reassures us. Subtle accents work best, she says. So choose a cheerful tablecloth, a soft yellow cushion or a lovely scented candle. You can also incorporate a pretty Easter accent into your decorations or display the works of art by your (grand) children.
Do you need plants too?
“If you have any space available inside or outside, choose plants," says our Property Manager Julie. "They increase the biodiversity in your garden, and are great for both animals and you."
Easter flowers will keep you on topic, of course, but primulas will also bring some extra colour to your garden. They come in just about every colour of the rainbow, so there’s bound to be one that suits.
Indoors, an Easter tree is ideal. You can decorate them with painted eggs or crafted figures.
"Music brings life into the home, so why not add a sense of spring with music too," says Julie.
Turn up your radio or speaker nice and loud, and sing and swing along to 'Here Comes the Sun' by The Beatles or play this Spotify playlist.
You can also leave the radio off and open the windows. The birds will provide you with a beautiful concert.
"Is your home all spruced up and ready for the Easter season? Then don't forget to enjoy it with family and friends," Julie adds.
And the best refreshment could be homemade lemonade, especially when the sun is shining. Fancy making a jug of your own? You can find the recipe below. Cheers!

5 tablespoons cane sugar syrup

750 ml (sparkling) water
