A breath of fresh air!
The walls of our apartments offer a window into the many stories and life projects of our tenants. Space to BREATHE: that’s what Nordine was looking for when he moved into his apartment. Now, he’s got what he wanted.
He had been looking for a two-bedroom apartment with his partner for a few months. It was a colleague, also a resident, who put him onto Felicity, at a time when the building was still being built. Nordine, who teaches at a school in Forest, tells us, “Now, we do carpooling!”
The feeling of being able to breathe more freely is not just because of the extra floor space and the big white walls in his flat as the couple are now also able to enjoy their small garden. As a former resident of Ganshoren, a neighbourhood that he thinks of as more leafy, this “extra” meant a lot. Located in the inner courtyard, the little garden has become a “relaxation area”. Nordine likes to go there to kick back and read when the weather’s good.
“I can hear the distant sound of the children playing in the courtyard. It’s my haven of peace...”
And what’s he reading? Dan Brown and celebrity biographies. “I can hear the distant sound of the children playing in the courtyard. It’s my haven of peace...”
"I go through the courtyard to get to my apartment - those few steps really help me to unwind."
When he gives friends a tour of the place, he shows them the route he takes every day. “As soon as I come out of the car park, I go through the courtyard to get to my apartment - those few steps really help me to unwind. That’s because of the unique sense of calm you get from the inner courtyard. Once again, I can feel myself breathing more freely.”
On the ground floor, the front of the apartment opens directly onto the street. “You’d have thought you’d hear it, but not at all. The insulation provided by the glazing is very effective and it’s quite peaceful, wherever you are in the flat.”
Peace and quiet all around, then...
